Installation Case Study: One Payment System That Works Across Any Charger or Platform
Two new customers, one great day on site. How MB Electrical EV Ltd, Union EV, EVCloudPay, Monta, and the Charge-M8 Sigma came together for a seamless new install in Wales.
The right people, the right kit
A successful EV installation is never just about hardware. It is about having the right partners on site, each delivering their part to a high standard.
Morgan led the civils and installation of the Rolec chargers. Clean execution, efficient delivery, and a strong presence on site throughout.
Grant’s newest CPO venture is now live. Union EV takes operational control of the site, supported by a fully connected network infrastructure from day one.
The payment terminal is supplied by Self Service Technology, delivering reliable, contactless payment functionality on site. Integrated with EVCloudPay, the terminal enables seamless transactions, remote configuration, and customised branding for a smooth driver experience.
Charge-M8 supplied the core infrastructure components, including the Sigma payment kiosk and the EV Kube foundation, enabling a compliant, connected, and installation-ready solution.
All chargers are communicating via EVCloudPay, connected to Monta, and mounted on the Charge-M8 Sigma payment post, supported by an EV Kube foundation. A complete, integrated system, live from day one.
On site in Wales
The installation is looking sharp. The hardware is in, the payment system is live, and the sun was shining.
The Foundation That Makes It All Stand: Charge-M8 EV Kube
Behind every solid installation is a foundation you can rely on. On this site, that foundation is the Charge-M8 EV Kube: a modular, UK patent-pending ground-anchor system designed specifically for EV charging pedestals. It was developed in collaboration with The University of Manchester and tested across real-world installations.
The EV Kube replaces traditional wet-pour concrete with a flat-pack modular system that one person can assemble on site using standard tools. No heavy lifting, no concrete mixing, and no waiting for curing before the charger goes in. Foundation setup is completed within a single day.
Fast Installation
One-person assembly with standard tools. Foundation complete in a single day, with no curing time required before the pedestal is mounted.
Modular Design
Modular construction is courier-friendly and reduces transport costs. The stackable design also adapts to challenging or uneven ground conditions.
Non-Conductive & Impact-Resistant
Composite material provides inherent electrical insulation, protecting both the installation and the installer throughout the life of the asset.
Lower Carbon Footprint
Eliminates the need for wet concrete pours on site, reducing the embodied carbon of each installation and supporting greener infrastructure delivery.
Maintenance-Friendly
Recyclable EV Kube components reduce carbon footprint and support more sustainable infrastructure delivery.
Supports Manual-Handling Compliance
No heavy lifting required during assembly, keeping installers safe and helping contractors meet manual-handling requirements on site.
Why this kind of install matters
It would be easy to treat a site like this as just another job. But every new CPO that launches with the right setup, including compliant payment, proper network management, and professionally installed hardware, is another step forward for the public charging experience in the UK.
"What a real pleasure meeting new customers on site and providing the personal touch. 23 degrees in April in Wales. We will take it."
- Mr. L, on site in Wales
The chargers are communicating. Drivers will soon be able to tap and charge without friction. That is the standard every site should be hitting, and this one does.
